The Truth about Junk Food and Healthy Fats and Oils

Junk food is actually not junk (useless) it is really slow poison in disguise. Whenever we fry food we lose more than half if not all of its food value. When we eat food just for the sake of taste or filling our hunger we are actually programming ourselves to be more sick.

Most of the food in commercial restaurant or fast food joint will not be freshly prepared. They prepare most of the food,  if not all, the ingredients beforehand. All the fats and oils they use for cooking are totally unhealthy. Deep fried and fried food items are the worst culprit. The fats and oils used in a fast food are made up from partial or complete hydrogenation by artificial means.

In nature all of the fats and oils have the cis-isomer form (less stable) and much healthier for human consumption. When they are partially hydrogenated they are converted into trans fatty acids (more stable) form. The stable isomeric form of these fatty acids present in cooking oils or fats actually prevent rancidity (deterioration) due to their altered chemical structure. However, these synthetically modified trans fatty acids are now recognized to be most damaging for the body and even to be carcinogenic (cancer causing). That is why most governments and food agencies have imposed limitations on the amount or percentage of trans fatty acids which may be present in a cooking oil.

When we are eating out, our food choices inevitably include ice cream, pizza, burger etc. but they are all very highly acidic foods. Acidity produced by food not only produces digestive problems but also encourages the growth of harmful pathogens in the body. When our whole body fluids become acidic (especially blood) then the all the red blood cells tend to clump together due to electrostatic force of attraction.

Our red blood cells are negatively charged and if the blood is positively charged due to the presence of large number of  positive hydrogen ions then most of the RBC’s will clump together (positive-negative attraction).  Thus the oxygen carrying capacity of the Red Blood Cells is reduced greatly.They simply cannot be transported efficiently to all the tissues and organs of the body when they are clumped together in large number.

This is the underlying scientific reason due to which we suffer from a weakened immune system and higher susceptibility to disease.

You will be amazed to know that even the early scientists who investigated the real cause of disease in the 19th century actually thought that disease was produced in the body only when the immune system and all physiological systems were weak and susceptible due to lack of nutrients. Attack any form of pathogenic bacteria, virus, protozoa, amoeba was only a secondary occurrence.They invade the body only when it is quite hospitable for them.

Once you quit eating junk food at home and outside you will feel a surge of energy and well-being. Just use some will power at first and after a few weeks you will feel so well rewarded that you will not worry about gaining extra weight gain.

A word of caution about soft drinks. Soft drinks like Coke and Pepsi are actually far more harmful than what the general public believes. They are very high in acid content, certain carcinogenic chemicals (cancer causing) and high amount of powdered sugar.

The poison content of soft drinks and soda is actually 400 times more than the capacity of the body to get rid of them.

They should not even be allowed to be mass marketed and consumed by children and senior citizens. They synthetic colors used in these soft drinks cannot be filtered by the kidneys and they stay deposited in them. Slowly over they years, they cause renal failure or kidney stone.

Since these soft drink companies are rich they are never likely to be punished and their products will never get banned by the government of any country.

So, now you know why you are the only person who can take full responsibility of your health. It is not only possible; it has been done by millions and millions of people with resounding success.

Whether you’re just considering going on a diet or are already on one, here are some tips that can help. You all know how the calories system works, the importance of the free day in a diet program, the importance of exercising and burning more calories than consumed. But in those few tips, I’m trying to tell you things you don’t already know, or what most people don’t really consider. Aside from calories, cholesterol also play a part in weight gain. So here are some advices to keep in mind and you will succeed in your diet

1-    Many people can’t wait for whole 6 days until the free day to eat what they want. You might be someone who has particular food cravings. Some people like my sister, crave chocolate for example. Chocolate cakes, bars, syrup, pan-cakes, she’d put chocolate on a T-bone steak if she could! However, if you can restrict yourself and make the whole week it will help your body burn fat fast.

In this case a day off may not work as well. In this case allowing yourself something small that you crave a few times during the week would work best. But remember to include it in your calories calculations and don’t eat it just before you sleep.

2-    The craving for food in itself gives you enough power to wait for next free day or meal if you really taught yourself to enjoy it

3-    On your free day consume more calories than normal. The metabolism works better when you occasionally switch up the calories . Keeping the metabolism at a low level can cause you to gain pounds quickly when you stop your diet.

4-    Also watch your stress levels when dieting. High levels of stress could ruin everything.

5-    Keep an eye on your cholesterol levels as well.

6-    The more you choose to work at your diet the more your diet will work for you. Overeating is an addiction and like other addictions you need to stick it out to get over the hump. We need to return to a time of simpler eating, focusing on fruits, vegetables, nuts, lean the most energy and the best body and fitness level possible if you eat whole, natural foods. You must avoid processed foods, which is pretty much anything in a bag or a box. So cut out muffins, donuts, pre-packaged cereals, white bread, pasta, chips, crackers, cookies, etc.  proteins, and healthy fats. It will take some “bad habit breaking” to rid yourself of your addiction to processed foods, but in your journey you will learn to appreciate the taste of REAL food again.
